Vegan and clothes shopping for school?! HELP?

Veg Chick asked:

I’m vegan and I’m supposed to be going shopping this weekend for clothes for high school!!! I have no clue where to but cruelty-free shoes, clothes, accesories or anything!!! I’ve seen the horrible and ugly fashions that you can buy online that are vegan, but 1. they are way to expensive 2. i hate shopping online for clothes and shoes, and 3. they were ugly and were NO comparison to my beautiful chucks and adidas that I’m used to wearing….can anyone help me??? Any shops at the mall that anyone knows FOR SURE that are 100% curelty-free?? Thanks.

Nothing in life is FOR SURE.
Maybe instead, try finding companies who are making an attempt to at least be responsible in their actions. You’ll be more likely to find clothing that’s fashionable and less expensive.

Farm the materials and make them yourself. 100% original!

Try stores like payless and check the labels. Also, if you are looking for tennis shoes New Balance makes some vegan shoes. If it lists on the tag that they are made with sythetic material they are vegan. My brother worked in the shoe department of Sports Authority for years before he became a manager and he has always suggested New Balance as one of the best brands even better than Nike or Addidas. There are no cruelty free stores but you can check the labels.

I had to do the same thing this summer.

Belts are easy to find because there are a lot of cloth belts that are really stylish.

Shoes… I like the canvas, 80’s shoes and those are cloth, too.

Clothes are pretty much easy to find, just watch out for wool and silk.

Read labels and hope for the best!

Shoes are the hardest. I’m a ballet slippers and sandals kind of girl. I love the ballet style crocs (Dillard’s, Nordstrom.) They are so comfortable and cute that I think I may never wear anything else. Chacos (REI, expensive but they last forever) makes outdoorsy-hippie-type sandals that are made of recycled rubber and give your feet cool tan lines. Check out the brand rocketdog. They have a lot of synthetic stuff that you can buy at Journey’s. I make most of my clothing, belts and accesories or buy it vintage so I don’t have any advice there. As for 100% cruelty-free stores in the mall-good luck.
